Morocco gears up to host its third consecutive Women's Africa Cup of Nations, set to take place from March 17 to April 3. The kingdom held the last two editions, with the upcoming tournament deferred from 2024 due to scheduling conflicts.
The event expands to 16 teams, following a decision by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to include Cameroon, Egypt, Ivory Coast, and Mali. This change followed a complex deliberation concerning the crowded international and domestic match calendars, as explained by CAF President Patrice Motsepe when announcing the dates in June 2024.
Matches will unfold in Rabat, Fez, and Casablanca. The tournament will help decide qualifiers for the 2027 Women's World Cup in Brazil, with four semifinalists gaining direct entry and losers of the quarterfinals competing for another chance through inter-confederation playoffs.
