India has expressed deep concern over the abduction of three of its nationals in Mali, amid escalating terrorist attacks in the country. The government urged the Malian authorities to secure their rapid release.

The Indian nationals, employed at the Diamond Cement Factory in Kayes, were taken hostage by armed assailants during a coordinated attack on July 1. While no group has claimed responsibility, an Al-Qaeda affiliate acknowledged orchestrating attacks elsewhere in Mali.

India's Ministry of External Affairs, in constant contact with Mali authorities and the victims' relatives, severely condemned the act and assured all possible support. Indian citizens in Mali are advised to remain vigilant and connected with the embassy in Bamako.
