Digital Deception: Unmasking the Cyber Criminal

The Jharkhand CID has arrested the prime accused in a digital arrest case involving Rs 49.88 lakh, after a senior citizen in Ranchi was duped by cyber criminals pretending to be Bengaluru police officers. The accused was caught in Ahmedabad with crucial evidence.

The Jharkhand Criminal Investigation Department (CID) successfully apprehended the main suspect in a high-profile digital arrest scam swindling Rs 49.88 lakh, officials revealed on Monday.

The arrest follows a complaint by a Ranchi-based senior citizen victimized by cyber criminals masquerading as Bengaluru police officers, coercing him into transferring the money under the guise of a fabricated Rs 300-crore case.

Using advanced technical analysis and National Cybercrime Reporting Portal inputs, detectives captured the suspect in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, seizing a mobile phone, SIM card, and cheque books linked to the fraud.
