The pilot, Flight Lieutenant Mohammad Towkir Islam, perished in the crash, marking one of the deadliest aviation disasters in Bangladesh's recent history. The Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate confirmed that, aside from the fatalities, 171 individuals suffered injuries and are receiving medical treatment at various hospitals.
A malfunctioning mechanical component is believed to have caused the crash; however, a comprehensive investigation is underway. The Bangladesh interim government declared a national day of mourning, and local authorities are working with various rescue teams to manage the aftermath as the community copes with this tragic event.
