A 24-year-old woman attempted suicide at a police station in Odisha's Nayagarh district on Monday, allegedly consuming pesticide while demanding justice, authorities have confirmed. She is currently receiving treatment at the district headquarters hospital.

The incident occurred at the Itamati police station, linked to a longstanding dispute with her ex-boyfriend and his family. According to Inspector-in-charge Priyabrata Rout, the woman and her mother approached the station demanding immediate action. She suddenly consumed the pesticide she had brought to the station, prompting immediate medical attention.

Earlier this year, the woman had filed a complaint against her ex-boyfriend, leading to his arrest. However, upon his release on bail, tensions reignited between their families, culminating in fresh police involvement with two new FIRs being registered, as per official statements.
