Punjab Police Dismantles Arms Trafficking Network in Joint Operations

Punjab Police arrested four individuals during two operations targeting trans-border arms trafficking, confiscating eight illegal weapons. Joint efforts with BSF led to apprehending the offenders and seizing pistols. Further investigations are ongoing following the lodging of FIRs at Gharinda police station in Amritsar.

In a significant crackdown on arms trafficking, Punjab Police has apprehended four individuals believed to be involved in cross-border arms trade. A total of eight illegal weapons were seized from the accused.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav disclosed that Amritsar rural police, leveraging specific intelligence inputs, executed two distinct operations, including a collaboration with the Border Security Force (BSF Punjab). The arrests and seizures have led to FIRs being filed at Gharinda police station, with further investigations underway to uncover the extensive network behind the trafficking.

Additionally, a BSF spokesperson confirmed the detention of two smugglers during a joint operation with Punjab Police at the Attari-Dande road in Amritsar. This operation resulted in the confiscation of five pistols and associated magazines. The detained individuals hail from Dande village in Amritsar, highlighting a local nexus within this illicit trade.
