Assistant Engineer Nabbed in NOC Bribery Scandal

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) apprehended Ravindra Ahire, an assistant engineer from Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation, over a Rs 40,000 bribe. The bribe concerned a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for drainage clearance of a petrol pump. Ahire demanded Rs 60,000, but was caught red-handed accepting a lesser amount.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) apprehended a 57-year-old assistant engineer in Maharashtra’s Thane district for allegedly accepting a Rs 40,000 bribe. The engineer, identified as Ravindra Ahire from the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation, sought the bribe to issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for a petrol station.

According to ACB Deputy Superintendent Anil Jaykar, Ahire initially demanded Rs 60,000 to issue the essential NOC required for beginning operations at the new petrol pump. This certificate pertained to the underground drainage system necessary for the station.

The ACB set a trap on Thursday, leading to Ahire's arrest. He was caught red-handed in his car while accepting the reduced bribe sum of Rs 40,000. Ahire faces charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
