An 18-year-old teenager, identified as Luca K, was sentenced to two years in prison for his association with the Islamic State, according to his lawyer and court officials. The court in Wiener Neustadt, near Vienna, determined Luca K was guilty of being part of a terrorist and criminal organization.
Authorities discovered that Luca K had disseminated material from the militant group online and had expressed admiration for a jihadist gunman involved in the 2020 Vienna attack, which claimed four lives. Luca K has since pleaded guilty and distanced himself from Islamist ideology, as confirmed by his attorney, Michael Dohr.
Luca K was arrested alongside Beran A, the main suspect in a thwarted plot to target a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna. Despite being in custody since their arrest, Luca K's lawyer affirmed that his client had no involvement in the attack plot. He clarified that their connection was merely due to them belonging to the same social circle.
