The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday stood firm against Congress leader Karti Chidambaram's request in the Delhi High Court to ease his bail conditions, pointing to the potential risks associated with being a parliamentarian.

Referencing without naming, CBI's special counsel Anup S Sharma drew a parallel with an MP linked to Kingfisher currently residing in the UK, highlighting security concerns in international travel permissions.

However, Chidambaram, through his counsel Sidharth Luthra, countered the argument by asserting his ongoing parliamentary duties, which mitigate the possibility of fleeing the country. Consequently, the court advanced the case hearing to September 10, initially set for October 16.
