In a significant operation, the Indian Army's elite para commandos have dispatched the alleged mastermind behind the Pahalgam terror attack, Sulieman alias Asif, alongside two accomplices. The encounter took place on Monday in a forest on the outskirts of Srinagar, as reported by officials.
Security forces launched the operation, 'Operation Mahadev,' after intercepting a technical signal suggesting the use of a satellite phone by perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack on April 22. Among the deceased are Jibran, linked to the Sonamarg Tunnel attack last year, and Hamza Afghani.
Following the terror strike at Baisaran meadows on April 22, which resulted in 26 casualties, an intensive crackdown, 'Operation Sindoor,' was initiated against terror infrastructures in Pakistan on May 7. Additional forces have been deployed amid intelligence on further terrorist activities in the region.
