Suraksha Chakra: Delhi-NCR's First Mega-Scale Disaster Drill

The inaugural 'mega-scale' disaster management drill, Suraksha Chakra, will take place in the NCR on August 1, involving multiple emergency agencies. The National Capital Region is set to witness its first 'mega-scale' disaster management mock exercise, Suraksha Chakra, on August 1. This landmark event involves multiple emergency agencies coordinating efforts to tackle simulated earthquake, industrial, and chemical hazards.

The exercise, spearheaded by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and other key stakeholders, precedes with a symposium on July 29 and table-top exercises on July 30 at Delhi's Manekshaw Centre. The initiative seeks to raise public awareness and fortify disaster response strategies.

Participating agencies will conduct drills across 11 districts of Delhi and parts of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. The NDMA aims to create a culture of preparedness and resilience, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for regular disaster management exercises across the country.
