In a significant diplomatic move, an Indian diplomat has engaged with Syria's transitional government for the first time in Damascus, representing a noteworthy shift in India's foreign policy compass.
Suresh Kumar, who heads the West Asia and North Africa division of India's external affairs ministry, met with Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani and Health Minister Musab Al-Ali. Discussions reportedly centered on boosting cooperation in various sectors, including health, with an emphasis on pharmaceuticals.
Despite the importance of this diplomatic development, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs has yet to release an official statement regarding Kumar's visit, leaving the finer details of the discussions largely to speculation.
