The Jharkhand High Court has implemented a comprehensive ban on vehicles equipped with pressure horns, multi-tone horns, flag rods, and additional lights in the state. This decision, delivered by a division bench, aims to curtail noise pollution and maintain statutory regulations.
The bench emphasized the need for immediate removal of unauthorized accessories like extra lights, especially those emitting red and blue hues that mimic emergency vehicles. The ruling also extends to removing flag rods and flags across all affiliations, whether political or religious, ensuring compliance with the Flag Code.
The order mandates adherence to the Central Motor Vehicle Rules and Noise Pollution Regulation and Control Rules. Moreover, a ban on the use of loudspeakers without prior permission during nighttime hours has been enforced. The court has instructed the Director General of Police and Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board to submit affidavits confirming directive compliance by mid-August.
