The Tripura High Court has initiated a probe into the controversial grant of bail by the Additional District and Sessions Court in Belonia to six individuals accused of murder. This development follows the high court's earlier rejection of the same bail applications.
Justice Biswajit Palit, presiding over the high court, has issued notices to the accused, seeking their explanation on why the bail should not be revoked. The accused were arrested for allegedly murdering Badal Shil, a CPI(M) candidate in the South Tripura Zilla Parishad elections, in July last year.
The lower court's decision to grant bail has sparked judicial discipline concerns, leading to the involvement of the Registrar Judicial to investigate the matter thoroughly. The high court emphasizes the gravity of the case, citing strong evidence against the accused individuals.
