A 16-year-old student left her home to attend Independence Day celebrations but was later found murdered with a sharp weapon, authorities reported on Sunday.
A 26-year-old man has been apprehended and is being questioned by the police in connection with the crime.
The student was en route to a flag hoisting ceremony at Janta Inter College when she went missing. Her body was discovered by locals under a culvert outside Morvan village with evident injury marks from a sharp weapon. The family identified the body and prompted police action. Station House Officer Raj Prakash Singh stated a man has been detained based on the family's allegations.
