The Supreme Court has allowed the Delhi administration to withdraw its plea concerning the appointments to the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC).

A bench led by Chief Justice B R Gavai, alongside Justices K Vinod Chandran and N V Anjaria, granted the order on Monday, following an application from the Delhi government's counsel seeking to retract the petition.

The counsel assured the bench that existing pro tem members would remain in their roles until regular appointments are made through the prescribed legal procedure, promising an expeditious completion of the selection process. Initially filed by the AAP-led government, the plea also led to the court establishing a selection panel in November 2023 for recommending interim members.
