TTV Dhinakaran, General Secretary of the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam, has called for immediate intervention from both central and state governments in the prolonged strike by Rameswaram fishermen.

The fishermen's protest, now more than ten days old, demands the release of 60 of their colleagues and their boats, seized by the Sri Lankan Navy. Dhinakaran voiced his concerns through a social media post on Friday.

He criticized the DMK government for neglecting the situation, which is wreaking havoc on local fishing and trade. Dhinakaran urged governmental engagement in talks to resolve the issue and restore fishing activities.
