Maharashtra Tackles Bogus OBC Certificates and Fund Disbursement

The Maharashtra cabinet sub-committee focused on Other Backward Classes (OBCs) is taking a staunch stance against the issuance of fake caste certificates. During a meeting led by Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule in Mumbai, the committee directed stringent document checks to ensure authenticity.
In financial efforts, the sub-committee ordered the release of Rs 2,933 crore pending for OBC welfare schemes, with a 15-day deadline for disbursement. It set in motion plans to seek an additional Rs 1,750 crore in the state's winter session, targeting both the OBC Corporation and its affiliates.
The committee also fast-tracked the construction of hostels for OBC students across Maharashtra, noting land acquisition needs in 16 districts. The meeting highlighted serious concerns about document fraud, with ministers expressing a firm commitment to upholding administrative integrity.
