Bridging the Arbitration Gap: Empowering MSMEs in India

Chief Justice of India B R Gavai emphasized the importance of equitable arbitration practices for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) at the Delhi Arbitration Weekend. He highlighted India's progression as a global arbitration hub and called for expedited policy implementation to ensure fair dispute resolutions for all business sizes.

During the inaugural event of the 'Delhi Arbitration Weekend,' Chief Justice of India B R Gavai emphasized the critical need for equitable arbitration practices, especially for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). He stated that ensuring a level playing field in arbitration between larger corporations and smaller businesses is crucial.

Justice Gavai admitted that while legislative and policy measures show promise, their execution requires acceleration so that all stakeholders can benefit equitably. This initiative is pivotal for India, which is rapidly maturing into a key global arbitration jurisdiction.

Besides CJI Gavai, the event featured notable figures such as Delhi High Court Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Chief Justice, High Court of Australia, Justice Stephen Gageler, highlighting the importance of arbitration as a tool for commercial efficiency rather than a source of disputes.
