Protest Through Flames: A Desperate Act Near CM's Residence

A 30-year-old man, Shivam Kumar Verma, attempted self-immolation near Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister's residence. He took this extreme step in protest of delayed justice in a criminal case. He is currently receiving treatment at a hospital. The police are investigating the incident further.

A 30-year-old man attempted self-immolation near the residence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday, according to police reports.

Shivam Kumar Verma from Ujarbara village in Barabanki district doused himself with a flammable liquid and set himself on fire around 10.30 am. Quick police response saw him rushed to the Civil Hospital for treatment, said Sub-Inspector Aditya Singh.

Verma's actions were linked to frustration over the non-arrest of those he accused in a criminal case. While the charge sheet had been filed, delays persisted. Lucknow police are collaborating with Barabanki police for more information on the case.
