A legal case has been filed against 10 students at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) after they allegedly commemorated the death anniversary of former Delhi University professor G N Saibaba on campus without permission, as confirmed on Tuesday by officials.
The students reportedly shouted slogans supporting Sharjeel Imam and Umar Khalid, former JNU students currently imprisoned in relation to the Delhi riots, during the Sunday event, according to a police official.
TISS administration lodged a complaint leading to the Trombay police registering a case. The allegations include illegal assembly and actions prejudicial to national harmony. A probe is now underway, with notices issued to the accused students.
