Delhi's Crackdown on Diwali Firecracker Violations

In a robust enforcement drive, Delhi Police have registered over 100 cases for firecracker violations during Diwali. The breaches pertained to bursting firecrackers beyond the Supreme Court-planned hours on October 19 and 20 and illegal sales, officials noted on Tuesday.

A detailed police report showed Dwarka district reporting 24 violations for untimely bursts, matching the number in Rohini district, alongside three illegal sales cases. Other districts such as Outer North and Outer recorded multiple violations, contributing to the air quality's alarming plummet into the 'red zone.'

Despite strict police measures, including deploying teams in sensitive zones, citizens defied court-mandated timings, leading to severe pollution. Authorities remain vigilant, ensuring compliance in the festive aftermath to curtail pollution and safeguard public health.
