Authorities have arrested two individuals in relation to the death of a 40-year-old man at a de-addiction centre in Meerut, informed a police spokesperson on Tuesday. The deceased, identified as Faimid, hailed from Bhawanpur.

Faimid was admitted to the Seva Drug De-addiction Centre in Ganganagar by his family on October 15. However, the centre notified police on Monday morning that Faimid had allegedly committed suicide by hanging.

Faimid’s family, however, accuse the centre’s staff and director of foul play, claiming he was mistreated and murdered. His nephew, Shahrukh, highlighted the presence of injury marks and the fact that his hands and feet were tied. The post-mortem report is anticipated to provide further evidence.
