The suspect, Silambarasan, reportedly confessed to the murder, citing suspicions of his wife Priya's extramarital affairs as the motive. Superintendent of Police Vivekananda Shukla acknowledged that the ongoing investigations have revealed frequent domestic disputes over the matter.

The case came to light after Priya's father filed a missing person's report. Authorities are now conducting a post-mortem to complete the investigation and consider alternative possibilities pertaining to the motive.
