The Guruvayur Devaswom emphatically denied allegations of mismanagement, asserting that it has strictly maintained the record of all temple valuables. In an official statement, the Devaswom warned of legal repercussions for those propagating misinformation about its operations.
According to the Devaswom chairman, V K Vijayan, media outlets have been circulating unfounded reports about the mismanagement of valuable assets at the temple. The management confirmed that no gold or other precious items have gone missing, and all are duly recorded in the stock register.
The controversy stems from news reports suggesting audit discrepancies in the temple's finances during 2019-20 and 2020-21. However, the Devaswom clarified its expenditure solely on necessary operations, such as the cutting of elephant tusks handled by the forest department, ensuring all procedures are carried out correctly and transparently.
