A serious investigation has been launched as four police officers face accusations of assaulting a car driver under the guise of an alcohol test. The incident occurred near the Mussoorie diversion, raising concerns over police conduct, a police official reported on Friday.
This case emerged following direct orders from Dehradun's Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate III, Sahista Bano, who instructed the police to probe the allegations brought forward by the victim, Kunal Chaudhary. Chaudhary claims that on August 6th, he was unjustly beaten by the officers who accused him of drunk driving without any basis.
Chaudhary alleged the officers issued him a DUI ticket despite his protests, which he claims were met with physical violence, resulting in significant injuries. Dehradun City Superintendent of Police, Pramod Kumar, confirmed an FIR has been filed against the four officers at the Rajpur police station, and that a full investigation is currently underway.
