In a significant development, the Arunachal Pradesh government has shifted the probe of a high-profile twin suicide case to the special investigation team (SIT) of the crime branch police station. Allegations of sexual abuse, coercion, and corruption by government officials are at the center of this case.
According to an order by DGP Anand Mohan, the case records, along with pertinent documents, are to be promptly handed over to the SIT. The case, initially under the jurisdiction of Nirjuli police station, is now overseen by SP Shivendu Bhushan, a leading figure in the SP (Crime) division.
The case gained further traction when police arrested former Itanagar Capital Region deputy commissioner Talo Potom. Potom, indicted for charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, is currently in judicial custody, following his surrender at Nirjuli police station.
