In a high-stakes encounter, police in Ballia district successfully apprehended a notorious cattle smuggler late Wednesday night. The suspect, Sunil Kumar Gupta, was arrested following a dramatic confrontation where shots were exchanged, resulting in the smuggler being injured.
The operation unfolded near the Jigini canal culvert, with authorities stopping a motorcyclist who attempted to flee. The situation escalated when Gupta reportedly opened fire, prompting a defensive response from law enforcement, ultimately leading to his capture.
Gupta, known for his history in cattle smuggling, was found with a country-made pistol and ammunition upon arrest. During interrogation, he admitted to smuggling cattle into Bihar. Police confirmed his involvement in multiple other cases related to cattle smuggling activities.
