Authorities in Maharashtra's Thane district have initiated legal action against three individuals from Tamil Nadu, accused of defrauding an agro firm of a substantial sum exceeding Rs 30 lakh.
According to a police complaint, based in Shahad near Kalyan, the company claimed that the accused, which included the managing director of a spice firm in Perundurai, Erode district, placed an order for turmeric during July and August.
Although the shipment was delivered as scheduled, the suspects only paid Rs 6 lakh, neglecting to settle the outstanding Rs 30.75 lakh despite numerous reminders. The accused later became unreachable, prompting a continued investigation, officials reported from Khadakpada police station.
