In a startling discovery, sanitation workers found a severed leg on the tracks at a local railway station, authorities confirmed on Tuesday morning.
The limb, discovered after the Alappuzha-Ernakulam MEMU train was transferred to a yard, appears to be several days old, according to Alappuzha railway police.
While the police conduct inquest proceedings and prepare for DNA analysis, they are also investigating potential incidents of individuals getting run over by trains. So far, no such reports have been received and further examination is underway to ascertain the origin of the limb.
