In a significant drug bust, authorities at Surat International Airport arrested a notorious carrier linked to international drug cartels. Jafar Mobilewala was intercepted with 4 kilograms of high-grade hydroponic cannabis, or 'hydro weed', valued at Rs 1.41 crore on the illicit market.

Following a tip-off, a joint operation involving the Surat City Crime Branch, Customs, and CISF personnel swiftly apprehended Mobilewala upon his arrival from Bangkok. Investigations revealed his role as a carrier for an international drug syndicate, with a history of smuggling various contraband, including gold and electronics.

The police have lodged a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act against Mobilewala. Notably, his wife, Bushra Begum, was also arrested earlier this year for smuggling hydro weed. This case highlights the intricate operations of drug smuggling networks and their persistent threats.
