In a significant operation, Thane police have seized hashish worth Rs 5 crore, arresting a 38-year-old man suspected of having connections to drug peddlers in Nepal.

The operation, carried out on a Saturday following a tip-off, led to the arrest of Shanwar Anwar Ali in the Majiwada area, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Amarsingh Jadhav.

Authorities recovered 5.05 kg of high-grade hashish from Ali's possession. The arrest is part of an intensified police crackdown on drug activities targeting youth in the region.
