Two Delhi traders, Kamal Somani and Ashish Khurana, have been arrested for attempting to burn a mannequin to pass it off as a human body in a bid to claim Rs 50 lakh in insurance money, according to local police.

The bizarre incident was discovered when employees at a cremation ground in Delhi noticed a group behaving suspiciously as they prepared the pyre. Upon investigation, it was found that the 'body' was actually a mannequin. Police were promptly alerted.

Upon interrogation, Somani confessed to staging this fraud due to a crippling debt. An accomplice has been identified but remains on the run. An investigation is actively ongoing to track down others involved.
