Assam Cabinet Minister Bimal Borah on Friday recommended the establishment of a 'detention room' within the Assembly to prevent suspended legislators from departing and sharing their perspectives with the media.
The proposal emerged shortly after Independent MLA Akhil Gogoi was suspended for interrupting the proceedings during the Question Hour. Borah asserted that suspended members leaving the premises can lead to misconstrued narratives.
Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia emphasized the need for the Speaker's office to release a press statement to clarify suspension reasons, ensuring no misinterpretation. Speaker Biswajit Daimary called for order and cooperation among the members.
