Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have launched a cordon and search operation in the Udhampur district following reports of suspicious activity, officials confirmed on Friday.

The operation, taking place in the Chigla-Balotha area of Basantgarh, is being carried out jointly by the Army, Jammu and Kashmir police, and the CRPF.

Basantgarh serves as a traditional route for infiltration by Pakistani terrorists crossing from Kathua, heading towards the Kashmir Valley through districts such as Doda and Kishtwar.
