The fire erupted at 12 Banas Way at around 2:15 AM on November 20, and Ontario’s Office of the Fire Marshal is investigating the cause. A pregnant woman survived the blaze, but her unborn child did not. Some victims are hospitalized, with one five-year-old boy reportedly stable.

Mayor Patrick Brown suggested the home might have been owned by an absentee landlord with a history of compliance issues. Constable Tyler Bell emphasized that the priority is to support the victims and manage witnesses as investigations continue.
