The incident took place at a local hotel where constable Jai Kishan was trying to clandestinely marry the second woman, with some family members present. The attempt was abruptly halted when Reena, his first wife, arrived with her family.

Reena's brother, Bhupendra Singh, revealed that Reena married Jai Kishan in 2011 but left him after discovering his infidelity six years later. Local police intervened to stop the second marriage ceremony.
