The Election Commission of India is set to hold special camps in Kolkata's red-light districts on December 2 and 3, aimed at aiding sex workers with the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
This decision comes as officials acknowledge the difficulties faced by these communities in completing SIR enumeration forms, spurred by rising concerns within the red-light districts.
The effort, actively championed by three organizations, could see personal involvement from Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Agarwal to ensure successful execution and address fears and issues firsthand.
