Record Seizures: DRI and Customs Clamp Down on Narcotics and Gold Smuggling
From April to October, over 3,000 kg of narcotics worth Rs 3,365 crore and 260 kg of gold valued at Rs 254 crore were seized by DRI and Customs. FY25 witnessed substantial operations with 7,362 kg of narcotics and 1,848 kg of gold intercepted.

DRI and Customs officials have taken decisive action this fiscal year, confiscating over 3,029 kg of narcotics valued at approximately Rs 3,365 crore between April and October, as reported to Parliament on Monday.
Throughout this period, 260 kg of gold with an estimated worth of Rs 254 crore was also intercepted in 461 separate incidents, Ministry of Finance official Pankaj Chaudhary disclosed during a parliamentary session.
Customs and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) have been vigilant, registering 549 narcotics seizures this fiscal year at airports. Meanwhile, they reported substantial gold seizures of 1,848 kg in FY25, underscoring ongoing efforts to counteract smuggling activities.
