The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has raised allegations of irregularities in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in West Bengal. They claim that Bangladeshi nationals and deceased individuals have been included in the 1.25 crore entries made from November 26 to 28.
Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari and other BJP MLAs have requested an audit of the entries and an impartial investigation potentially involving the CBI or judiciary. They allege interference by the political consultancy agency I-PAC in the data entry process, asserting that illegitimate names have been added.
The BJP is demanding additional security measures, possibly involving the Central Armed Police Force, and suggests the use of technology and independent observers to ensure a transparent process. They have also asked for live telecasts of hearings involving mismatched documents to maintain transparency.
