A 22-year-old man was arrested in Noida for allegedly attempting to murder his stepchildren by throwing them into a 10-foot-deep drain. The swift intervention of passing delivery personnel saved the children, a boy and a girl under five years old.
The incident occurred near Paras Tierra Society in Sector 137. Police identified the suspect as Ashish, a resident of Kanpur currently living in Shahdara village. The children's cries were heard by delivery workers who rescued them. Both children were reported safe and in good health.
A complaint was filed, leading to Ashish's arrest. The police revealed that Ashish resented his role as a stepfather. A case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered, and the children were taken for medical examination before being presented to the Child Welfare Committee.
