BSF Strikes Gold: Smuggler Caught with 36 Gold Biscuits

In a significant operation near the international border in West Bengal's Nadia district, the Border Security Force (BSF) intercepted an alleged smuggler and seized 36 gold biscuits, valued at over Rs 5.47 crore, officials disclosed on Friday.
The operation was carried out by the 32nd Battalion under the South Bengal Frontier at the Banpur Border Outpost. Acting on precise intelligence, troops intensified surveillance and set up ambushes along known smuggling routes, as per a BSF statement.
The suspect was spotted moving suspiciously from the border road towards Banpur village. Despite attempting to flee, he was apprehended and searched, revealing gold biscuits wrapped in packets weighing 4.23 kg. The contraband and individual have been handed over to local authorities for further investigation. Officials noted this was the third major anti-smuggling success by the South Bengal Frontier this month.
