A confrontation unfolded in Nuh district, Haryana, as a Delhi Police team attempted to detain a suspected vehicle thief named Tausif. The officers were met with hostility by locals from Nangla Jamalgarh village, who allegedly released the suspect and damaged police property, officials reported.
The altercation broke out around 10 am, leading to a shattered glass window of a police vehicle. A video capturing the chaos surfaced on social media, yet local authorities initially remained uninformed about the incident. The recording displayed villagers physically confronting the police team.
A senior officer stated that the Delhi police unit returned after Tausif's family promised to present him to authorities. While the family maintains Tausif's innocence, the police accuse him of stealing a pickup van, fueling the conflict. Punhana police station's Inspector Omvir Singh noted no official complaint was filed concerning the incident.
