In a significant breakthrough, Jharkhand police apprehended a 20-year-old man accused of defrauding a former bank employee of nearly Rs 17 lakh. The arrest in Deoghar district follows a meticulous investigation that began with a complaint from a West Singhbhum resident.
The victim had been conned under the guise of updating his life certificate online. By contacting the bank, the police were able to trace and freeze the disputed account while also gathering pivotal CCTV and other technical evidence.
The accused, identified through the collected evidence, was apprehended in Raghunathpur. Police seized the mobile device linked to the crime, and efforts are ongoing to capture his accomplices who remain at large.
