In a strange turn of events, Delhi Police have taken a 36-year-old man into custody for the alleged abduction of a two-and-a-half-year-old boy. The motive? To coerce the child's mother into matrimony, according to official reports made public on Saturday.

A distress call to police control on December 2 set the investigation in motion, pointing to a kidnapping at Jamuna Bazar. The boy's mother, who earns her living by selling snacks near a local temple, revealed to authorities that the accused, Wasim, had been pressuring her into marriage for nearly a year.

With technical surveillance proving ineffective due to Wasim's lack of mobile usage, investigators relied on human intelligence. This led them to Wasim's sister in Moradabad, where a successful raid unfolded in the early hours of December 3, resulting in the return of the child and the apprehension of Wasim.
