In the latest escalation of a long-standing border dispute, Thailand has initiated air strikes along its contested boundary with Cambodia. This comes after both countries accused each other of breaching a ceasefire agreement that had been previously brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump.

According to a statement from the Thai military, at least one soldier has been killed and four others wounded as parts of Ubon Ratchathani province witnessed renewed clashes. Meanwhile, Cambodia's defense ministry alleged that Thailand began the aggression through dawn strikes on two locations.

The fragile peace, which was brokered with international assistance, appears to be unraveling. Disagreement over undemarcated sections of the border, mapped by colonial powers over a century ago, often led to skirmishes despite attempts at diplomatic resolutions.
