A marriage attempt involving a minor girl from another religion has resulted in the arrest of a 21-year-old groom and his mother in Chinour, authorities reported. The incident took place at a local marriage hall on Sunday evening.

Superintendent of Police, Rajesh Dwivedi, noted that the situation escalated when members of a Hindu organization intervened, prompting police involvement. An initial inquiry revealed the girl was a minor and the groom, identified as Sahib, who was wearing a traditional 'sehra', was from a different religion.

The minor and her family accused Sahib of coercing her into the marriage with his mother's support. Charges under Sections 87 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Act have been filed, resulting in the arrest of Sahib and his mother.
