Bombay High Court Upholds Case Against Ex-MNS Leader for Alleged Assault
The Bombay High Court upheld a 2020 case against former MNS leader Akhil Chitre, accused of assaulting a lawyer representing Amazon. Despite Chitre's petition to dismiss the FIR, the court found sufficient evidence for a prima facie case. The case involved MNS's demand for Amazon to use Marathi.

The Bombay High Court has ruled against quashing a 2020 case involving former Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader Akhil Chitre. Chitre faces accusations of assaulting an Amazon lawyer during a protest concerning the use of Marathi in October 2020.
A bench comprising Justices Ajay Gadkari and Ranjit Bhonsale determined there was a prima facie case warranting continuation. They cited evidence from the FIR, investigation documents, statements, and an injury certificate as grounds for their decision.
Chitre, now affiliated with the Shiv Sena (UBT), allegedly issued threats against Amazon and its employees, leading to a local court injunction against him and MNS followers. Following a court hearing, Chitre is accused of participating in an attack on advocate Durgesh Gupta, reinforcing the prosecution's charges.
