In a dramatic clash, police in Patna's Janipur area have arrested a fugitive criminal involved in an extortion case after a gunfight. The individual, identified as Rakesh, was sought for crimes linked to extortion in September.
According to Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya Sharma, the arrest unfolded after officers detained one of Rakesh's associates who provided key information. Acting on this tip-off, law enforcement caught up with Rakesh as he attempted another extortion late Wednesday evening.
Upon spotting the authorities, Rakesh engaged in a shootout, which resulted in him being injured. He received treatment and is in stable condition. The police are preparing to record his statement as the investigation progresses.
