Spanish authorities have successfully dismantled a sophisticated criminal operation involved in the aerial smuggling of hashish from Morocco via helicopters. This uncommon method of transport highlighted the gang's bold tactics as they shuttled large quantities of drugs across the Mediterranean to southern Spain.
In a series of collaborative raids with Moroccan, Belgian, and Swedish agencies, police seized a helicopter, 657 kilograms of hashish, firearms, cash, and vehicles, achieving a major breakthrough against organized crime networks. Six individuals have been arrested, facing charges of drug trafficking and organized crime involvement.
Despite the risks, criminal gangs occasionally resort to helicopters for their smuggling activities due to their speed, although they are rare and detectable. Spain's strategic location makes it a prime target for drug trafficking, often involving hashish from Morocco and cocaine from Latin America.
